As I noted, it was just a strain. I was being careful as last year I injured my hip and it was several months before I could hike without pain.

I hike mostly in Eastern Kansas or Western Missouri. Both are mainly mixed woodlands and rolling hills. Central KS is different. The Flint Hills are like a ocean of grass, pure stark beauty in the spring as wild flowers bloom on the prairie. So if you want mountains, you'll have to look elsewhere.

Thanks for the trailsofkansas link... some very beautiful scenery. Now I have some ideas of what to do the next time I travel through Kansas!
