Meteor Shower this Friday/Saturday

Looks like there's some potential for a really good meteor shower over north america this Friday night / Saturday morning -

I'll be driving through southern Utah that night, so hopefully i'll get a few photos of it if the clouds aren't in the way.

Thanks for the heads up! We're lucky enough to have pretty dark skies here, but the weather isn't too promising at the moment:

Isolated showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48.

We'll see how it goes...

Unfortunately the forecast held here...Any luck in Utah? I heard it was kind of hit or miss and less of a show than anticipated...

Unfortunately the forecast held here...Any luck in Utah? I heard it was kind of hit or miss and less of a show than anticipated...

It finally cleared a bit after the predicted time. I saw 2-3 decent meteors before passing out, but nothing particularly fantastic. The cloud cover kinda killed it, even though i was watching them in some very dark skies along highway 12 at the Escalante river.

Sunday night i stayed up shooting some star photos, and happened to see a very bright meteor around 4am right in the middle of the sky i was aimed at, but i haven't checked to see if it was bright enough to show up in my shot or not.
