NEW Spot Satellite Phone!?

I just came across this today. What do you think of it? Good? Bad? Is it worth it? I have heard a lot of people unhappy with Spot's performance. Would the phone be the same thing?

It seems to me that if you think of it as a glorified cell phone (with the subscription costs and the limited performance that entails) you won't be disappointed.

For a rescue beacon, though, I would never use anything less reliable than units like the McMurdo Fastfind, which uses standard dual aviation frequencies transmitting directly to SAR. No subscriptions, no blank spots on the map, and guaranteed rescue when you need it.
