Last weekend found this just off trail. Skin? On a cow patty? About the size of a basketball. Huh? Half mile later, another one? Ohhhh, that WAS a well fed deer. Now there are well fed coyotes. Had me looking carefully at the surrounding ravine sides.

That looks like something half digested.  Were you in bear country, by any chance?  I would almost say it looks like afterbirth but I don't think its time for any babies to be born yet.

Deer stomach. The contents bloated and expanded. The first one is older, and the birds have been at it. The second on is intact.

Yea that makes sense.  Hard for me to get a good idea from just a picture.  Plus, I'm short of coffee this morning.
