Boone NC weekend trip?

Newbies to the world of backcountry camping. Experienced day hikers but alway ended up back at the hotel or (me) car camping site. Interested in a weekend trip to Boone area. Looking for ideas. Nothing to strenuous. Prefer to get their sat am and short hike to set up camp and maybe some loops from the camp site and stay 2 nights. Don’t want to to take down and reset up camp for our first time. But will if the views and hiking is worth it. Looking for something like max patch.  But that is a long ways (we are in raleigh) for 2 nights.
