I live here in SA and want to start hiking I ride my mountain bike 

but want to start hiking, I love the outdoors and want to start hanging with a group of people who are not afraid to get out and move

I am planning on going to the Appalachian trail sometime next year

as my son has already done some...

I just want to find places around Texas to go for day/weekend trips

I am planning on Big Bend as well in th near future

Hey Rick I hope you did end up going on the Appalachian. There are quite a few good hiking areas near SA like Friedrich Wilderness Park which has multiple trails and great scenery for miles. There is Government Canyon park, Garner State Park, etc. keep on trekking!
