New new backpack makes me look fat

Hi folks, 

New guy here from New Mexico.  I have been backpacking since I was 15, almost 40 years now, (WOW).

I haven't been on any trips for six years now because I previously lived in Florida, and the hiking there wasn't that great. but since moving here to this awesome state of NM, I'm ready to get back into it.

I have an older model GG Vapor Trail I bought about 10 years ago, and just got a new Gossamer Gear Gorilla in yesterday.  I loaded it up, strapped it on my back and wow, my belly was hanging over the belt.  Time to go on a diet and start working out!!!

I hope to meet some of you on the trail one day.

Welcome to the forum! Without a doubt, the hipbelt never seems to lie and often especially right after the holidays.  Hope to do some backpacking in New Mexico soon myself, not a bad place to be!
