Sleeping bag, kid

Hi all,

I want to buy a light weight but not super expensive sleeping bag for my son for backpacking and car camping. He is 6 now but I think adult size is ok since he will keep growing anyway. Light weight and affordable.

What types of temps are you expecting? You could go with anything for car camping. How far do you expect the backpacking trips to be? If you go with a longer bag I'd just experiment with ways to fill or close off the extra space in the meantime.

I have had good luck with younger kids by zipping them in a down jacket.  You can use a couple of safety pins to close up the bottom edge.
