Dollly Sods WV 11/28/15

I got permission to escape my family for a quick overnighter. My brother-in-law and I had great weather and a great time at the Dolly Sods. I have done quite a bit of hiking in the southeast US and he has done quite a bit in the northeast US, we both agree that the Dolly Sods are unique and like nothing we have seen on the east coast. I highly recommend it, but you need at least a couple days to appreciate, plan accordingly :)

Looks like a great trip . . . I always wanted to visit Dolly Sods but ended up opting for closer options (Red River Gorge, Big South Fork, Smokies, etc.) when I lived in Kentucky.

That describes me perfectly. The trailhead to the Sods is ~6.5 hours vs. 3.5 - 4.5 for almost any trailhead in the smokies. This trip reminded me that I need to try to do some longer trips that would justify driving 6.5 hours.
