Altitude Acclimation at the Grand Canyon North Rim?

I'll be traversing the Grand Canyon, North rim to South rim, this October. I plan to fly early from the Midwest the day before the hike and spend one night at Jacob Lake before hiking to Phantom Ranch where I was lucky enough to get two nights dorm accommodation.

The North Rim is at 8500 feet. I do not believe I need an extra day to acclimate to the higher elevation since I'll immediately be dropping elevation at the start of my hike. However, it will be less then 24 hours between leaving Milwaukee at about 750 feet to the start of the hike.

Any opinions on this?

Rob

Da'engineer

You could do some pre-training with an elevation mask. I do elevation training daily here in Alaska Just went from 2000 feet to 7000 feet today. :D
