Backpacking is more of a commitment up front. It will take you longer to get ready, and probably longer to get to your destination of choice. After that you’re spending at least a couple half days and a night out on the trail, or more if you’re after more than an overnighter. But what I found was that my backpacking trips “Stuck” more than anything else. It usually hits me the first evening...

This be the truth. I am constantly distracted by work, life, TV, etc. but on the trail, just distracted by nature and the trail. I don't get people who hike with earphones, you are just taking the rest of your life with ya on the trail! A great article!
