This is your chance to pick up a Patagonia Houdini Jacket, a gift card from REI, and your pick of an item from the TrailGroove Store. Here’s the scoop:

2) Each post / thread started made from 6/10 to 6/30 at 8 P.M. Mountain Time counts as one entry!

3) If you're a Senior TrailGroove Member (100 or more posts) at the time of this writing and have made a forum post in the last year, you'll automatically receive an entry to the drawing.

The Fine Print:

For entries to count, the posts should be applicable to backpacking, hiking, the outdoors, etc., and at least somewhat constructive. For instance, we won't be able to count intentionally repeated posts, spam, one word posts (Unless it's a really good one word post), or posts that don't meet our basic forum guidelines agreed to when you Register.

Thanks for visiting, and good luck!

Thanks for the invite to the "Groove" forum! Question for you - for posts to count as an entry, the instructions say that they have to be created **AT** 8PM??? That's kind of strange,.. what if I'm in the bathroom?!

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The activity on the TG Forum exploded after the announcement of the Patagonia Houdini/REI/TrailGroove Giveaway!!!!

Lots of new names or members who haven't been active for a while, that's for sure.

Ok, so here's my two cents worth.............What has been your experience with Patagonia products?? I (by chance) have never purchased any Patagonia, using mainly North Face, some Eddie Bauer, etc. I believe Patagonia has great quality gear, and the linked site on the jacket looks great.

I've always (in my mind that is) equated Patagonia with mountain climbing, which is something I'm not into. But I'm sure other TG members use Patagonia for regular hiking and backpacking usage.

So what's the scoop from other Forum Members?

Hey Gary,

Thanks for checking out the post! There's definitely been some great activity lately. :D

I have a Houdini and have found it to be a great jacket, especially for taking the edge off the cold, wind, light rain, & snow during high output activities no matter what they are, hiking, biking, running, etc. It's also really light, so it's easy to bring along without much of a weight penalty. A lot of people are using a wind jacket / shirt as a key part of their hiking / backpacking clothing system. I'm also a really big fan of their Capilene baselayers, and I take a Patagonia Capilene 2 Zip-Neck long sleeve shirt on every backpacking trip I go on. I also add some Capilene 2 /3 bottoms on colder trips and use those for running and biking as well. They seem to wear out faster than I like, usually lasting me about a year...But then again during winter I'm using them everyday. They work well and I'm usually able to catch them on sale. Overall, at least from my experience Patagonia seems to make comfortable clothing that works well and can be adapted to a variety of activities.
